Expelled
This rock had landed here on the glacier the previous year after being spat out of Ruapehu’s crater in the 1995 eruption. Just after I took this photo we walked into what I thought would be mist, but turned out to be a cloud of toxic gas from the crater. My throat was starting to feel pretty sore when luckily we walked out the other side.
